West Palm Beach

This picture was taken at West Palm Beach. Remember how I said the waves were better over here? Well this proves it true! However they were too rough for anyone to swim in. I find the sound of the waves very relaxing and I tend to go to the beach as a stress reliever. Plus look at how blue the water is! Probably because the water was absolutely freezing and the sky was very clear that day as well.

Storm Clouds

This is a picture of a storm brewing right over Miromar Outlets. I just thought it had a really cool look to it. I have always found the weather fascinating especially because we have no control over it.

Frogger

I actually had a picture to go along with this post but I cannot for the life of me find it. I took it with my phone but it's not on there or on my computer. Anyways...
After a day at the beach just before the cold weather set in, I went to go get the hose to rinse off my dog and feet and say a very tiny green frog sitting on it. He was so cool looking and didn't see to mind that I was staring at him. It just made me wonder about all the different species in the world and all the poisonous frogs out there and maybe this was one of them; needless to say I didn't pick it up. I would like to go to a rain forest some day just to look, however I'm not too keen on lots of bugs or snakes, especially snakes.

Wiggins Pass State Park

This is a view from the canopy of Wiggins Pass. A couple friends and I decided to go here one day over the summer just to get some sun. It was my first time at this park and I would never have known about it unless my friends decided to go here. The water here was extremely clear with a lot of little minos and some slightly bigger fish following those around for obvious reasons. You can also see the boats going out to sea on the far left side of the beach. This probably isn't such a good thing because they run on gas and most likely pollute the water and inhibit the full potentioal of wild life.

Echo

On our fieldtrip to Echo, we learned about the agricultural environments in Florida. This second picture is of bamboo. They control it's growing so it is all together and not scattered, which helps it grow bigger and stronger. Bamboo has many different uses, like building shelter or for food. The first picture is of the Echo trademark, the Miracle Tree. I cannot remember all it's various uses and benefits but I do know that they used it to say a young child from starvation. I learned a lot about the different uses our vegetation provides us with and will keep them in mind as I go through life.

Doggy Beach

Lola is my part hound, part whippet mix dog. I dare say she loves the outdoors more than me. This is a picture of her going after a tennis ball at Doggy Beach in Bonita Springs, FL. Depending on the time of day that you arrive, the mangroves leading up to the water are really a sight to see but at low tide it's muddy and there's a funky stench surrounding the area. Needless to say, no matter what time we go, Lola and myself are ready for a nice long nap afterwards.

Freshwater Field Trip

Last week, I joined Professor Coventry's class on a trip to the Corkscrew Sanctuary. It was a fun and new experience for me being that I had never seen a cypress swamp before. I learned a lot of interesting facts about the vegetation that grows there and even had a little visit from a reptilian friend. It is nice to know that if you go far enough out of the way of civilizaiton there are still areas of natural environment.
